“The XDAO team is made up of professionals from different countries: Russia, Turkey, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates. The core team has worked in Moscow for the last year. We have about 20 people working full-time and around the same number working part-time this year. Our team includes developers, the marketing and design crew, the legal team, bizdevs, and account managers. We were challenged to provide the core team with a comfortable place to work and live.”
Vladislav Shavlidze, the company’s CEO, relocated first to Bali, Indonesia. He moved to Ubud last fall and began actively inviting the rest of the guys to consider moving.
“Eventually, we partnered up with a big project in the real estate sector in Bali. Its name is PARQ Ubud, a town with all the infrastructure you could need: apartments, offices, gyms, and everything you could possibly want to live a prosperous life. It was created primarily for IT professionals. We entered into a partnership, which provides us with special conditions for living and working here. That’s why the team decided to relocate in full.”
PARQ Ubud has issued its own token, which will soon be used to pay for additional services, such as paying rent or buying goods and services. The project has digitized the assets, tokenized them, and put them under the management of a DAO created on the XDAO platform.
Reasons and Relocation Process
“What was our motivation to move here?” asks Anna Godovnikova. “First of all, the opportunities and the desire to bring the team together in one place. We decided that the climate was right for us; the working environment makes it possible to focus and have cool team-building events, which makes communicating really easy.”
According to Zurab, there are many creative and active people in Indonesia who could prove as potentially interesting partners to collaborate on the XDAO project. “And of course, I feel that this is such a springboard for our further growth, for the company’s development, not just as a decentralized finance project anymore, but also as a bridge between traditional business, Web 3.0 technologies, and blockchain,” said the co-owner and CAO of XDAO.
Dubai was the team’s midpoint before heading to Indonesia. The guys held a series of meetings here and visited crypto and blockchain events during March. The team got business visas to stay in Bali between work tasks.
“What I can point out as a challenge was the sudden suspension of MasterCard and Visa cards. We weren’t prepared for that at all. Consequently, there were some difficulties in buying tickets, getting various software subscriptions and cloud services connected, and all the problems that went along with that. But what saved us was that we work in the crypto sphere and know how to handle digital currencies.”
On the whole, the team’s relocation went without a hitch. The planning and the presence of the CEO, who took over the processes of welcoming and settling in the new arrivals, really helped.
About New Habits and Working in a Different Country
“We’ve developed a practice of having regular meetings on various topics. This is, you might say, the first time we’ve ever been in the same office together like this. These meetings help increase the general level of knowledge on how the product works. It also boosts the regular synchronization of activities, which makes communication more accessible in terms of building strategies and working on new products.
We are now temporarily housing our employees in the co-working space because we’re still finishing the design of the offices we’re going to be working in. We are now at the stage where we are all working together. Everyone is in the same room and tuning into teamwork,” says Zurab Shavlidze.
Anna shares a pleasant observation about friendly locals and admits that there has been no culture shock. The team had an idea of their destination, and some of them have even lived and worked in Bali before.
“We live in a specific place, it’s designed just for creative, active people. Here at PARQ, you can find everyone you need. People are responsive, they will help you adapt, and advise you on who you can turn to if you have questions,” continues Zurab. “I agree that there was no culture shock. I’m pleasantly surprised by the local prices, good food and service, and an optimal price/quality balance. I am glad that my daily travelling distances have shortened. In Moscow, you spend a huge amount of time on the road, while in Bali, you can do a lot more things because of the shorter distances. We’re enjoying the absence of Moscow’s rhythm so far, which has eaten up a lot of energy and time. Here you manage to get more things done and focus on work. And when you need to rest, you can concentrate on relaxing.”
For an extended stay in Bali, you must apply for a business visa. The list of documents for entry is best specified based on your nationality. At this point, you need to have a valid vaccination, a health insurance policy covering the risks associated with COVID-19, and a PCR test valid for 48 hours to travel to Indonesia. All passengers arriving in the country are required to register on the PeduliLindungi app and complete an eHAC form.
Cryptocurrencies in Indonesia
Cryptocurrencies are legalized in Indonesia. There are major crypto exchanges in the country, as well as a so-called “white list,” including more than 220 crypto-assets considered legal.
At the end of 2021, according to various estimates, more than 7.5 million Indonesians owned cryptocurrencies. According to the Indonesian Stock Exchange, these numbers are much higher than the number of investors in stocks.
“Thanks to cryptocurrencies, we have great opportunities to visit the world and see different cultures. The XDAO team naturally took advantage of this, and we are glad to work in a field that unites people around the world and expands our horizons of knowledge,” adds Anna Godovnikova.
Future Plans
XDAO is going to grow as a project and provide startup services, which include consulting and incubating young projects and advising.
The guys said that by launching XDAO, they saw what people really needed. Not only a tool but also assistance in building such organizations.
“XDAO is a huge concept and, naturally, we want to attract more people to business development in the first place. We need individuals who understand how DAOs work. We are also expanding our marketing department: SMM managers and marketing specialists who can promote the project,” says the CMO of XDAO.
