The third Binance Community Meetup, held in Tbilisi, was focused on the cooperation of Binance with Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA) in the sphere of educational programs for women in different areas of the Web3 industry. 

Binance Promotes Web3 Educational Initiatives for Women

On March 2, the third Binance Community Meetup was held in Georgia’s capital, Radisson Blu Iveria Hotel. CP Media attended the event. The highlight of the event was Binance’s collaboration with Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA) to provide educational programs for women in different areas of the Web3 industry. The cooperation included the following announcements: 

  • Binance Charity’s participation in funding Web3 training courses focused on women’s empowerment in technology;
  • a BNB networking hackathon in Tbilisi and Batumi technoparks;
  • workshops by Binance Academy in all of Georgia’s technoparks.

In honor of International Women’s Day, Binance Charity also donated $100,000 to GITA to support and develop women’s educational programs in an online format. 

Among the speakers at the event were: 

  • Vladimir Smerkis, Binance General Manager for CIS; 
  • George Chagelishvili, Binance Georgia General Manager; 
  • Iouri Galitchenko, Business Development Manager of Binance Pay for CIS. 

Binance representatives spoke not only about local but also about the company’s global educational initiatives in the field of Web3, which concern women. Specifically, it became known that Binance Charity allocated $2 million to pay for over 36,000 special Web3 scholarships for women in 2022. Scholarships went to young women from Germany, Nigeria, Kenya, Brazil, France, South Africa, Australia, and Ukraine. 

Binance paid for educational courses related to blockchain and crypto at universities, schools, and non-profit organizations such as Chidinba and Ebeh. Educational courses, programs, and scholarships for women will continue to be funded in 2023. 

Moreover, Binance launched an internship program for women in 2022, where scholarship holders could get hands-on experience working at a cryptocurrency company. Mentoring programs for women and a series of special classes were also launched to help start a career in Web3. 

Other highlights announced by Binance during the event included the cancellation of trading commissions in March, activated by the code IWD2023. Besides, there was additionally told about the partnership of Binance and CityPay, which helps to develop crypto payments for consumer goods and services in Georgia.
