Chainlink and LG Partner to Develop South Korea’s Digital Asset Market

Chainlink and LG CNS entered into a strategic partnership to develop digital asset infrastructure in South Korea. The collaboration includes developing technology solutions for stablecoins and tokenized securities, as well as creating institutional blockchain products.
Chainlink, a developer of decentralized cross-chain infrastructure, announced a partnership with LG CNS, the IT arm of South Korea’s LG Group, which specializes in digital transformation and enterprise technology solutions. Together, the companies plan to develop regulated infrastructure for South Korea’s digital asset market.
Under the agreement, LG CNS plans to integrate Chainlink’s technology into its digital asset platform. This will enable interoperability between different blockchain networks and traditional financial systems while expanding capabilities for issuing, circulating, and using South Korean won-denominated stablecoins.
The partnership focuses on 3 main areas:
Integrating Chainlink technology into LG CNS’s platform. Implementing oracles, cross-chain protocols, and orchestration tools to enable secure data exchange between blockchain networks and traditional financial systems.
Developing technical standards for South Korea’s digital asset market. Establishing unified requirements for blockchain infrastructure compatibility and interoperability between systems used by financial institutions.
Creating solutions for financial institutions. Developing infrastructure to scale operations involving regulated digital assets, including tokenized securities and stablecoins, using Chainlink technology.
One of the partnership’s key priorities will be developing infrastructure for tokenized securities. Hongkeun Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of the Digital Business Division at LG CNS, said integrating Chainlink technology should enable secure interoperability between financial systems and access to external data sources. Over time, this is expected to create opportunities for South Korean solutions to enter international markets.
LG CNS is already involved in developing South Korea’s national digital currency infrastructure. The company serves as the prime contractor for Project Hangang, a pilot program testing central bank digital currency (CBDC) infrastructure. LG CNS is responsible for building, operating, and expanding the technology platform.
The partnership will allow LG CNS to apply its experience developing government systems to create commercial digital asset products for financial institutions. Chainlink will provide the technological foundation for transferring tokenized funds between different networks and platforms.
The partnership comes amid significant activity in South Korea’s cryptocurrency market. According to figures cited by Chainlink, South Korea has the second-largest digital asset market in Asia. According to data from South Korea’s Financial Services Commission (FSC), the total value of digital assets held by customers of local cryptocurrency operators reached 58.9 trillion won ($40 billion) at the end of June 2026. The number of accounts enabled for digital asset trading exceeded 11.17 million.
South Korea’s government also officially included blockchain technology and digital asset market development in its economic growth strategy for the second half of 2026. Meanwhile, the country’s financial regulator outlined key priorities for developing the tokenization market, aiming to establish unified digital infrastructure that will support the issuance and circulation of various types of tokenized securities.
