DekaBank Launches Cryptocurrency Trading Service for German Savings Bank Customers

Germany’s DekaBank announced the launch of a cryptocurrency investment service through the Sparkasse mobile app. Customers will have access to 5 digital assets.
DekaBank, which specializes in investment services, introduced a cryptocurrency service for retail customers of German savings banks belonging to the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe financial group.
DekaBank is among Germany’s largest investment service providers and real estate asset managers. As of December 31, 2025, the Deka Group’s assets under management totaled €452 billion, while the number of investment accounts it serviced reached 6 million. In 2025, DekaBank obtained a license from Germany’s Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), allowing it to provide regulated crypto asset services under the MiCA framework.
The service targets adult Sparkassen customers who make their own investment decisions. Initially, users will be able to trade 5 cryptocurrencies:
Bitcoin (BTC);
Ethereum (ETH);
Solana (SOL);
XRP;
Polygon (POL).
The order execution fee will be €0.99 per order. Trading will be accessible through a dedicated section of the Anlegen investment area in the Sparkasse mobile app. Customers won’t need a brokerage account to use the new service.
DekaBank will centrally manage cryptocurrency operations, including trading, asset custody, and customer support. Digital assets and their associated private keys will be held directly in Deka’s cryptocurrency wallet.
Access to the service will be rolled out gradually over the coming months. Each regional Sparkasse savings bank within Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe will independently decide whether to offer cryptocurrency trading to its customers.
In February 2025, DekaBank launched cryptocurrency trading and custody services for institutional clients. Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe, the financial group that includes DekaBank, announced plans to provide retail customers with access to cryptocurrency trading in mid-2025.
