The government of Japan will invest in digital transformation policy as one of the drivers of NFT and metaverse sector development.
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said during a speech before Parliament that the government plans to invest in the Web 3.0 sector development. In particular, state investments will go to companies in the spheres of metaverse and NFT.
According to the official, the initiative will be implemented as part of Japan’s digital transformation policy. Under this policy, local governments have already begun to use NFTs to solve certain issues. Specifically, there are plans to digitize passports using non-fungible tokens, as Kishida pointed out in his speech.
Previously, it was reported that the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry would develop the Web 3.0 sector in Japan. The University of Tokyo will introduce training programs in the field of blockchain technology, which can be completed in the metaverse. This initiative aims to develop a skilled workforce for Japan’s digital transformation.
