Mastercard and BVNK Launch Unified Platform for Fiat and Stablecoin Transactions

Mastercard and BVNK introduced Global Money Platform, a solution that brings fiat currency and stablecoin transactions together through a single API.
Global payment network Mastercard and stablecoin infrastructure provider BVNK announced the launch of Mastercard Global Money Platform. The solution allows banks, FinTech companies, and corporate clients to integrate multicurrency accounts, asset conversion, card products, and cross-border payouts using stablecoins into their existing services.
Global Money Platform uses a modular architecture and covers the full money management lifecycle, from receiving and holding funds to conversion, settlement, and payouts. Companies can use individual platform features or combine them based on their business needs without integrating multiple infrastructure providers.
At the core of the solution is Global Money Account, a multicurrency account that allows users to hold fiat currencies and stablecoins simultaneously and convert between them through a single API. FinTech platforms will be able to embed these accounts into their own branded products, enabling users to manage balances, convert assets, and make payouts.
Key features of Mastercard Global Money Platform include:
- Multicurrency accounts for holding fiat currencies and stablecoins
- Real-time conversion between traditional currencies and stablecoins
- Local bank payouts through Mastercard Move infrastructure
- Issuance of payment cards linked to stablecoin balances
- Tools for managing corporate liquidity, treasury operations, and settlements
- Customizable rewards programs and additional account features
Integration with Mastercard Move provides access to a global payment infrastructure that supports transfers to more than 17 billion payment endpoints worldwide. This will allow users to make payouts directly from stablecoin balances to recipients’ local bank accounts, with funds credited in local currencies.
By 2027, Mastercard plans to enable payouts through Global Money Platform in more than 40 currencies to recipients’ bank accounts across more than 200 countries and territories using Mastercard Move infrastructure.
The platform will also support stablecoin payments for purchases across Mastercard’s global acceptance network, which includes hundreds of millions of merchant locations. Stablecoin-linked cards will be available for issuance in more than 130 countries.
The first companies planning to integrate Global Money Platform include:
Nuvei, a global payment provider offering payment acceptance and processing solutions
Marqeta, a FinTech company specializing in payment card issuance and management infrastructure
Ontop, a platform for managing international payouts and payments to remote employees and contractors
Bolt Group, a technology company developing e-commerce and online payment solutions
Almond FinTech, a company specializing in cross-border payments and settlement infrastructure
For corporate users, the solution is designed in part to optimize cross-border cash flows. Companies working with suppliers and counterparties in different countries will be able to centrally manage liquidity, incoming payments, and payouts without maintaining separate prefunded balances in each jurisdiction. This will reduce the amount of working capital reserved for international settlements.
According to Chris Harmse, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of BVNK, combining BVNK’s technology with Mastercard’s payment infrastructure will allow corporate clients to build global financial products without having to deploy the underlying infrastructure themselves.
Mastercard plans to further expand Global Money Platform’s capabilities by adding support for tokenized deposits and other regulated forms of digital money. Support for agentic commerce is also included in the roadmap.
