MiniPay Launches Visa Debit Card for Stablecoin Payments

Users of the MiniPay crypto wallet will be able to issue a digital debit card that allows them to pay for goods and services with stablecoins through Visa’s payment network.

The team behind MiniPay, a non-custodial stablecoin wallet built on the Celo blockchain, announced the launch of MiniPay Card, a debit card that will enable users in selected countries across Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Southeast Asia to spend stablecoins at merchants that accept Visa.

Merchants won’t need to integrate any crypto infrastructure, as digital assets will be converted through Visa’s payment network, while settlements will be processed in local currencies.

The MiniPay app was launched in 2023 by Opera, the developer of the web browser of the same name. MiniPay’s user base exceeds 16 million activated wallets across more than 65 countries. Adoption has been strongest in emerging markets, where demand for tools to store, transfer, and spend stablecoins continues to grow.

The card can be added to Apple Pay and Google Pay for contactless payments. MiniPay Card is issued by regulated platform Monavate, while Gnosis Pay serves as the card’s technical operator, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements across multiple markets.

In selected countries, MiniPay Card users will also be able to earn cashback in digital assets, including Tether Gold (XAUt₀), USDT, and USDC. According to the company, the card carries no monthly or annual maintenance fees, and transactions are subject only to a foreign exchange conversion fee.

According to Jørgen Arnesen, EVP Mobile at Opera, the card launch marks another step toward integrating stablecoins into everyday financial activity and expands MiniPay’s functionality from a tool for storing and transferring funds into a comprehensive payment solution.

In 2025, MiniPay significantly expanded its crypto wallet’s functionality through a partnership with Noah, a global payments infrastructure provider. In 2026, MiniPay added support for USDT and tokenized gold XAUt₀ following an expanded partnership with Tether.
