Meta announced the upcoming integration of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) into Instagram.
Meta’s pilot project, planned to be launched next week, will allow NFTs based on Ethereum, Solana, Flow and Polygon to be published on the popular social network Instagram. CoinDesk reports the news.
Initially, only selected users and NFT owners from the US will participate in the project. It’s still unclear whether Instagram will support all of the announced blockchains at once or whether they will be connected gradually.
CoinDesk also reports on Meta developers’ intentions to integrate cryptocurrency wallets, particularly MetaMask, into Instagram. So users will be able to prove ownership of the published NFTs.
Besides, Instagram won’t charge users for publishing and exchanging NFTs. Such a decision was made in Meta and is aimed to popularize NFTs and expand their user base.
Recall that Zuckerberg announced the introduction of NFTs on Facebook and Instagram platforms in March.
