Tokenized U.S. Stocks to Become Collateral in DeFi Ecosystem

Ondo Global Markets will enable the use of tokenized U.S. stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETF) as collateral within the DeFi ecosystem. Chainlink will serve as the official provider of price oracle data.

Ondo Finance announced that its Ondo Global Markets platform, one of the largest tokenized securities platforms, partnered with Chainlink, a leading blockchain oracle provider, to accelerate the adoption of tokenized U.S. stocks in DeFi. As part of the collaboration, Chainlink Data Feeds standards will be implemented for tokenized stocks and ETFs issued on the platform.

Chainlink data streams are already live in production for SPYon, QQQon, and TSLAon, and are used in DeFi protocols including the Euler lending platform. Market parameters such as collateral ratios, borrowing limits, and liquidation thresholds will be determined by Sentora, which handles asset analysis and risk monitoring. This modular, risk-isolated approach creates a controlled environment for integrating tokenized stocks into DeFi while meeting institutional-grade standards.

Chainlink Data Feeds provide prices that account for the full economic structure of underlying assets, including dividends and corporate actions. This allows protocols to more accurately calculate collateral value, manage risk, and set proper liquidation parameters during periods of high volatility.

According to John Hahn, CEO of Euler, most RWA products only provide passive investment exposure and cannot be fully used as collateral in DeFi. The two missing elements, he explained, were liquidity for timely position liquidation without significant slippage and reliable institutional-grade price infrastructure. Chainlink’s integration provides a standardized on-chain data source meeting the requirements of major protocols.

Anthony DeMartino, CEO of Sentora, highlighted that the partnership enables tokenized stocks to be used as fully functional collateral alongside native crypto assets. Ondo plans to expand support to its full range of U.S. tokenized stocks and ETFs and integrate them into additional lending markets, liquidity vaults, and structured products.

Chainlink continues to develop its ecosystem, using data from Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), providing on-chain access to U.S. stock market data, and automating compliance with regulatory requirements for tokenized asset issuance and trading.
