A new study shows that 71% of people with more than $1 million in wealth invest in cryptocurrency assets.

Over 70% of Millionaires Invest in Digital Assets

Consulting company Capgemini revealed the World Wealth Report 2022, showing the results of a study on the investment preferences of people in the HNWI (high-net-worth individual) category. It turned out that 71% of respondents invest in cryptocurrencies and other digital assets.

The study involved 2,973 respondents from around the world, of which 54% have a fortune of $1 million to $30 million, while 46% have $30 million or more.

The survey specifically focused on digital assets, which included:

  • cryptocurrencies;
  • cryptocurrency exchange-traded funds (ETFs);
  • non-fungible tokens (NFTs);
  • products related to the metaverse sector.

Among millionaires investing in digital assets, roughly 90% are under 40. At the same time, cryptocurrency investments average about 14% of the total investment portfolio of respondents, but analysts noted an increase in demand for educational programs in digital asset management.

Major investment banks and management companies are already carving out a niche and offering HNWI clients investment products focused on digital assets. These include Morgan Stanley, BBVA Switzerland and Wells Fargo.

Earlier, a study by consultancy Accenture showed that 52% of major investors in Asia already own cryptocurrency assets. Forbes said about a third of the world’s 65 richest people invest in cryptocurrencies and digital assets.
