PayPal expanded its list of supported cryptocurrencies by adding Chainlink (LINK) and Solana (SOL) tokens. The initiative aims to provide PayPal and Venmo users with more opportunities to interact with digital assets.

PayPal Adds SOL and LINK to Supported Cryptocurrencies List

PayPal Holdings, Inc., a global provider of electronic and mobile payment services, announced the addition of Chainlink and Solana digital assets to its supported cryptocurrencies. Users of PayPal and Venmo platforms will now be able to buy, sell, and store LINK and SOL tokens directly through the apps.

According to May Zabaneh, VP of Product, Blockchain, Crypto, and Digital Currencies at PayPal, the addition of tokens from the largest decentralized oracle network, Chainlink, and the high-performance Solana blockchain, known for its scalability and low fees, reflects the company’s commitment to expanding its cryptocurrency offerings and providing users access to a broader range of digital assets.

The list of supported cryptocurrencies on PayPal includes Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, Litecoin, as well as PayPal’s own USD stablecoin, PayPal USD (PYUSD), launched in 2023.

Zabaneh emphasized that the expansion of supported cryptocurrencies is aimed at meeting the growing demand for digital assets from users and providing them with convenient tools to manage their crypto investments.

Last year, PayPal and Venmo users gained the ability to send crypto using the Ethereum Name Service (ENS).
