Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Culture unveiled a Metaverse dedicated to the country’s cultural heritage. The initiative allows users to explore the nation’s history by visiting virtual space.

Saudi Arabia Launches State Metaverse

The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Culture launched the Cultural Universe to celebrate the country’s Founding Day. Anyone can immerse themselves in virtual space and learn about the history of the state since 1727.

DroppGroup’s Generative Media, a software development company based on artificial intelligence, participated in creating the initiative The Metaverse operates on the Oracle Hyperledger Fabric 2.5 blockchain and is managed by the droppPhygital AI system.

The project allows users to explore a virtual museum of Saudi Arabia’s cultural heritage, interact with each other, and move freely within virtual space. The Metaverse is divided into sectors dedicated to music, art, history, food, and crafts. Information is available in both Arabic and English.

The virtual world is free to use and can be accessed via the website, mobile devices, VR headsets, and other supported digital devices. As an interactive experience, the Metaverse features a series of mini video games that earn digital coins that can be spent on exclusive content.

The local government called the initiative a cultural revolution, and the use of Metaverse technologies is key to preserving the state’s cultural heritage and history. In early 2023, the Saudi authorities announced their intention to develop local Metaverse initiatives.
