Since the start of trading, spot Bitcoin ETFs, excluding GBTC, raised ~$12 billion from investors. Total capital inflows, including GBTC, amounted to ~$5 billion.
BitMEX Research analysts published statistics on capital flows in spot Bitcoin ETFs for the period from January 11 to February 16, 2024. The total investment inflows were nearly $12 billion. During the same period, approximately $7 billion in capital flowed out of the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust ETF (GBTC).
Spot Bitcoin ETFs have ~$37.6 billion in assets under management, with GBTC accounting for ~$23.5 billion. Moreover, the top five largest funds by assets include:
- BlackRock (IBTC) — $6.204 billion;
- Fidelity (FBTC) — $4.467 billion;
- ARK Invest (ARKB) — $1.52 billion;
- Bitwise (BITC) — $1.167 billion.
Analysts note a slowdown in capital outflows from the Grayscale fund. In January, the outflow of assets reached $5.64 billion, while in February, it amounted to only $1.37 billion.
The hype around spot Bitcoin ETFs and their approval put significant pressure on BTC. Due to that, BTC exceeded $50,000 for the first time in two years.
