Telegram is launching an advertising platform based on the blockchain network, The Open Network (TON). Telegram channel owners can monetize their advertising revenue and receive up to 50% of rewards in Toncoin.

Telegram Integrates Advertising Tools Based on TON

Pavel Durov, Founder of Telegram, announced the integration of RevShare, an advertising platform based on the TON blockchain. The platform will allow owners of Telegram channels to receive rewards from advertising. 50% of advertising revenue will be distributed among them.

Starting in March 2024, Telegram users can activate RevShare and receive financial rewards for advertising on their channels. All payments will be made exclusively in Toncoin.

According to Durov, the initiative is designed to expand the possibilities of content monetization. It’s also an essential step for Telegram in implementing blockchain technology. Durov said TON sets a new standard for digital transactions, expanding the capabilities of the messenger.

Pavel also explained that the system will work similarly to the sale of domain names on Fragment. TON received from advertising can be withdrawn to a crypto wallet and used to promote or create content on Telegram.

Toncoin quotes experienced active growth in response to recent news. According to CoinGecko data, the price of TON increased by more than 25% over the past few days. As of 11:00 (GMT+2), March 1, the asset’s price is $2.74.

BankMyCell analysts estimate that about ~1.562 billion people use the messenger. Telegram channels generate over a trillion views every month, but only about 10% of them are monetized.

However, monetization via the TON blockchain won’t be available for users from Russia and other countries where the Telegram Ads platform is already operating. The announced innovations are relevant only for the “100 new countries” where Telegram will launch Ads in March. In other regions, everything will remain the same.

The demand for Telegram bots for crypto trading is actively growing, but their reliability needs to be improved among cybersecurity experts.
