Tether Joins $400 Million Credit Fund Launch to Finance Businesses and Consumers

Tether and Fasanara Capital are launching a credit fund that will finance small and medium-sized businesses and provide consumer lending through fintech platforms in more than 60 countries using USDT.

Tether and asset manager Fasanara Capital launched StableFund, an evergreen private credit fund with an initial $400 million joint investment. USDT will serve as a key part of the fund’s infrastructure and will be used for lending operations, cross-border settlements, and capital transfers.

StableFund will operate as an evergreen investment vehicle, meaning its activities won’t be limited to a predetermined term. This structure will allow the fund to grow as it attracts third-party capital. Over time, the partners expect to raise up to $3 billion from new institutional investors.

According to estimates provided by the companies, the global private credit market currently stands at about $3 trillion and could grow to $5 trillion by 2029. Meanwhile, the estimated global financing gap for small and medium-sized businesses stands at $5.7 trillion.

The roles within StableFund will be divided as follows:

  1. Fasanara Capital will serve as the fund manager. It will deploy capital through its international network of fintech lending platforms into short-term, asset-backed loans.
  2. Tether will serve as a co-founder and adviser to the fund. It will provide infrastructure for settlements, capital inflows and outflows, and liquidity management, and will identify potential financing opportunities.

Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino said the company planned to use its global USDT infrastructure to identify financing opportunities and facilitate cross-border lending. According to Ardoino, the partnership with Fasanara should create a direct channel for capital to reach businesses and communities that lack access to traditional financing.

Fasanara Capital CEO Francesco Filia said the asset manager would provide technology, borrower assessment systems, and its existing relationships with lending institutions. Tether will complement this infrastructure with USDT’s global network and access to capital from digital asset market participants.

The launch of StableFund expands the use of Tether’s infrastructure beyond digital asset trading and payments. The company plans to use USDT as a settlement instrument in the private credit market, where the speed of international transfers, access to capital, and the ability to finance borrowers in countries with less developed traditional financial infrastructure are important. The stablecoin will also help reduce reliance on traditional bank settlement systems.

It’s worth noting that in 2025, Tether announced a strategic investment in Ledn, one of the global leaders in Bitcoin-backed consumer lending.
