Travala is expanding hotel booking options with over 100 different cryptocurrencies through a partnership with Trivago, a global accommodation metasearch engine.
Web3 travel platform Travala announced the integration of crypto payments for booking 2.2 million hotels available in Trivago’s database. Notably, Trivago’s full database includes over 5 million hotels in more than 190 countries.
Moreover, Travala offers users an integrated crypto-based loyalty program, providing crypto rewards instead of traditional loyalty points. Customers booking hotels with cryptocurrency can earn rewards in BTC and AVA, Travala’s native token.
Juan Otero, Co-Founder and CEO of Travala, stated in the press release that the partnership with Trivago reflects a broader industry trend where travel companies are exploring alternative payment methods.
The convenience of crypto payments for accommodation bookings was highlighted by Max Krupyshev, CEO of CoinsPaid, in the Purpose Driven FinTech podcast.
“People around the world want to pay for accommodation anywhere. This means they send money from everywhere, while hosts receive it from everywhere. In Europe, SEPA payments or traditional bank transfers work fine. But it gets more complicated in more exotic locations. The challenge is how to send or receive money quickly and securely. The answer is crypto payments,” said Max.
In June 2024, Travala added support for TON for booking flights, hotels, tours, and other travel services in more than 230 countries. Overall, Travala supports 127 payment methods, including over 100 major cryptocurrencies.
