Binance Pay’s partnership with the crypto platform CityPay will allow Georgian users to pay for goods and services with cryptocurrencies via POS terminals.
Binance Pay, a payment service of Binance, announced a partnership with the cryptocurrency payment system CityPay. According to a press release received by CP Media, the cooperation opens up new opportunities for the Georgian crypto community. Its members will be able to use digital assets to buy goods and pay for services online or through POS terminals.
More than 600 businesses in the region use CityPay terminals, including:
- the fast food restaurant chain Wendy’s;
- the hotel chain Radisson;
- the supermarket chain Fresco;
- the restaurant chain 8000 Vintages;
- the hotel Episode.
To make a payment in crypto through the CityPay POS terminal, you need to:
- Open the Binance Pay app on your phone.
- Scan a QR code on the crypto terminal.
- Confirm the transaction via SMS.
According to Eralp Hatipoglu, Co-Founder and CEO of CityPay, the company sees rapid growth in crypto users in Georgia and an increased demand for crypto payments in the region. He said the partnership with Binance was designed to create the right “environment” for businesses to offer their customers “a new and convenient payment option.”
The cryptocurrency market in Georgia is actively developing. Vladimir Smerkis, Regional Director at Binance, said the crypto exchange planned to collaborate with local companies in all sectors to provide Georgian customers unlimited crypto payment options through Binance Pay.
In 2022, the number of registered users of Binance reached 128 million, while the number of users of Binance Pay grew to 22 million. The total amount of transactions carried out through the app exceeded $48 billion.
