Global adoption of Web3 games continues to be low. More than 50% of gamers haven’t heard of any type of blockchain game.
Coda Labs reported the results of a large-scale study conducted by the WALR platform to determine the level of adoption of blockchain games by regular gamers and the existing user experience.
The report found that Web 3.0 game adoption remains very low. Among those surveyed, only 12% had experience with crypto gaming. Another 15% expressed an interest in having such an experience. Moreover, 52% of respondents have no idea about blockchain games at all.
According to the survey, one of the main barriers to getting acquainted with Web3 games is a lack of understanding of their work. Plus, some gamers don’t have cryptocurrency wallets. However, those who played blockchain games enjoyed their experience. Regular users gave them a score of 8.3/10, while gamers with little experience rated them at 7.1.
P2E projects turned out to be the most recognizable type of blockchain games, and the opportunity to earn money was named as their main advantage. But generally, the point that gamers prefer interesting gameplay over making money was confirmed.
A total of 6,921 people from Japan, Brazil, Britain, the U.S., and South Africa took part in the study. All respondents play video games at least twice a month. The study was conducted in June 2022. Recall that in March this year, the number of unique active wallets (UAW) in the Play-to-Earn (P2E) sector exceeded 1.22 million.
