CoinsPaid Advocates for Balanced Regulation in Europe

How can Europe balance strong regulation with space for innovation? That question took center stage in Tallinn, where the Nordic-BALTIC AML / FinCrime & Tech Conference 2025 brought together regulators, banks, and fintech leaders. CoinsPaid played an active role in the discussion, contributing to the development of a fair and forward-looking regulatory framework for digital finance.

On October 1, Tallinn hosted the Nordic-BALTIC AML / FinCrime & Tech Conference 2025, where key topics included updates to European Anti-Money Laundering policy, regulatory priorities, sanctions, and compliance issues.

In particular, participants debated whether new European initiatives, including the creation of the Single Rulebook, would simplify regulation or, on the contrary, create an additional burden for businesses.

The discussion focused on three main areas:

  • Balance between enforcement and proportionate supervision
  • Role of the European Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA) as a tool for unification or a source of added complexity
  • Issue of trust between regulators and the industry

Special attention was given to the principle of proportionality and the need for a risk-based approach, avoiding universal requirements for all market participants.

Svetlana Prussova, Management Board Member at CoinsPaid, spoke on the opening panel “Supervision 2025 Plus – From Enforcement to Effective Guidance.” She emphasized that effective supervision is impossible without combining market protection with room for development: “We need strong regulation that protects the market but also leaves room for growth and innovation,” Svetlana said.

CoinsPaid doesn’t simply follow the rules but actively participates in shaping the regulatory agenda, strengthening trust in the digital finance industry. The company maintains a firm position: the future of regulatory policy isn’t a choice between punishment and guidance but the search for methods to maintain an optimal balance between the two.
