Montenegro will host a large-scale event dedicated to the latest innovations and trends in the Ethereum ecosystem, where developers of blockchain startups can win a grant to develop their projects within the EDCON Super Demo contest.

Ethereum Gives $10K to Develop Blockchain Startups

Podgorica, the capital of Montenegro, will host a major annual conference organized by the Ethereum Foundation — The Community Ethereum Development Conference, or EDCON, from May 19 to 23, 2023. The event will gather industry leaders, developers, and investors under one roof. They’ll discuss current trends in the blockchain industry and the impact of the Ethereum ecosystem on it.

In addition to technical workshops and panel discussions, the event will include presentations of Ethereum software products. Panel discussions will cover the most important topics for the industry, including regulation and decentralized governance opportunities.

EDCON 2023 will bring together the most prominent representatives of the Ethereum community. The conference will be attended by:

  • Vitalik Buterin, Co-Founder of Ethereum;
  • Tim Beiko, Core Developer of Ethereum;
  • Barry Whitehat, Developer of Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP) solutions for Ethereum;
  • Scott Moore, Co-Founder of Gitcoin;
  • Primavera De Filippi, Blockchain Researcher at Harvard University;
  • Cy Li, Director of De University of Ethereum, etc.

Additionally, as part of the event, developers of startup projects will have the opportunity to showcase their work to the general public at the EDCON Super Demo competition. The Ethereum Foundation will allocate $10,000 to support innovative projects based on Ethereum and blockchain technologies as a grant for the winners. The sum will be distributed among the three best startup projects, which will be able to demonstrate their developments on the main stage. The contest’s primary goal is to stimulate the development of Ethereum blockchain technologies and its ecosystem.

Recall that Q1 2023 was successful for the Ethereum ecosystem. Layer 2 solutions and zero-knowledge (ZK) protocols were actively developed. The price of ETH grew to its highest point in 11 months, after the successful Shapella hard fork, which caused an increase in trading of the asset.
