The London Stock Exchange began trading Europe’s first metaverse ETF.
ETC Group and HANetf announced the creation of Europe’s first ETF based on companies from the metaverse sector. The instrument will be traded on the London Stock Exchange.
The ETC Group Global Metaverse UCITS ETF (METR) will give European funds access to the investment potential of 51 companies that work on different aspects of the metaverse. The firms cover a broad area of industry, including:
- high-speed Internet;
- streaming data;
- VR and AR;
- online gaming;
- 3D graphics;
- innovations in blockchain technology, etc.
The exchange traded fund will track Solactive ETC Group’s metaverse index, which uses advanced analytics, particularly AI and advanced computational mechanisms. METR has thus become Europe’s first Metaverse ETF.
Recall that last month the stock exchange in Hong Kong began trading the first ETF tracking metaverse projects, the CSOP Metaverse Concept ETF (3034.HK). The fund covers 46 metaverse companies in the US market.Although still in its infancy, the metaverse market is already attracting billions of dollars in investments. According to Morgan Stanley, the potential size of the metaverse market in the United States alone is about $8.3 trillion.
