The government of Gibraltar plans to integrate blockchain technology into government systems.
A Tuesday announcement of the blockchain technology integration into the work of government agencies appeared on the Gibraltar government website. The project aims to optimize government processes and improve services for citizens and organizations operating in its jurisdiction.
The project is being undertaken with the support of crypto exchange Bitso and RSK blockchain developer IOBVlabs. Both companies are registered in Gibraltar.
The pilot project involves migrating the government’s existing system of digital services to blockchain. According to the author, it will increase the speed and efficiency of bureaucratic processes.
Gibraltar is considered a crypto-friendly jurisdiction. For example, Israeli social trading platform eToro and Chinese crypto exchange Huobi Global have local licenses.
