An innovative app for simplifying digital identity has been launched based on the KILT blockchain protocol.
The team behind the Polkadot-based KILT Protocol, a decentralized protocol for issuing credentials, announced the launch of a new app for creating digital identities called Web3name (W3n).
The app allows users to create custom names for digital identities. According to the developers, it will enable more transparency in authenticating users without compromising their privacy.
Blockchain-based digital identity is built around a decentralized identifier (DID), consisting of a specific number of letters and numbers selected randomly. Web3name allows you to shorten the DID to a specific nickname unique to each individual user.
Earlier, KILT announced the launch of a decentralized identity verification service SocialKYC designed to facilitate control over personal data on the Web3. The service works under the KYC principles (know your customer) and allows the user to create a digital identifier based on information from social networks. SocialKYC data can be linked to GitHub, Twitter, Discord, Twitch and email address, and you can now add a unique blockchain nickname using Web3name.
W3n is designed to simplify user identification and is an addition to the crypto wallet address, not a replacement for it. Web3name will be tied to KILT, but it can easily be linked to any number of addresses in any blockchain in the Polkadot ecosystem using the KILT Sporran wallet.
With the Web3name app, it will be possible to simplify the digital identity of blockchain users without compromising the security and privacy of personal data.
