Crypto payment startup MoonPay has attracted $87 million in investments through public figures: actors, musicians, athletes and celebrities.
MoonPay representatives informed about attracting $87 million of investments from celebrities and stars of show business.
Among the fintech company’s notable investors are:
- movie stars (Ashton Kutcher, Gwyneth Paltrow, Paris Hilton, Eva Longoria, Gal Gadot, Matthew McConaughey, Bruce Willis, Gee Roberson);
- famous athletes (Maria Sharapova, Gibson Azar, Paul George);
- music industry representatives (Justin Bieber, Snoop Dogg, Steve Aoki, Diplo, David Grutman);
- art investors (Larry Gagosian);
- prominent entrepreneurs (Michael Ovitz, Scooter Braun), etc.
MoonPay received core funding in the first round from Tiger Global Management and Coatue, as well as Blossom Capital, Thrive Capital, Paradigm and NEA. The overall investment totaled $555 million, giving MoonPay a valuation of $3.4 billion and helping the crypto project partner with popular cryptocurrency organizations: NFT marketplace OpenSea, Michael Jordan’s Web3 platform HEIR, Tom Brady’s NFT platform Autograph and cyber sports team FaZe Clan.
MoonPay has expanded its global presence in the crypto market and increased its financial inflow with the launch of these two products:
- NFT Checkout. An app for NFT purchases using credit or debit cards via Apple Pay and Google Pay.
- MoonPay Concierge. A service for celebrities and wealthy people that facilitates the purchase of NTFs on their behalf.
Some of the celebrity crypto investors have already successfully used the services of the fintech startup. For example, actress Gwyneth Paltrow used MoonPay Concierge to purchase an NFT monkey from the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection.
The NFT industry has been attracting the interest of show business stars and noted HNW collectors who have been devoting a great deal of attention to the NFT art market lately.
