Ordinals, a protocol for storing NFTs on a blockchain, was deployed on Bitcoin’s fork network. An Australian software engineer updated the protocol code in a week to get the bounty.

NFT Protocol Ordinals Deployed on Litecoin Network

Anthony Guerrera, Software Engineer from Australia, posted a repository on GitHub that allows the NFT protocol Ordinals to be used on Litecoin.

According to Guerrera, his goal was a cash reward promised by Twitter user indigo_nakamoto to the first person to successfully implement the Ordinals fork. The starting reward was 5 LTC (~$470), but it grew to 22 LTC (~$2,070) five days later.

The first “digital artifact” on the Litecoin network was a whitepaper of the decentralized protocol MimbleWimble. Guerrera said the generation cost him a few litoshis, amounting to “about two cents.” Thus, the developer believes that the Ordinals technology on Litecoin looks more attractive to users.

The use of the NFT protocol Ordinals significantly increased transaction fees within the Bitcoin network and boosted the profitability of BTC mining. In addition, Bitcoin was used for the first time for non-financial transaction purposes, precisely because of the ability to insert “digital artifacts.”
