Revolut Launches Euro-Backed Stablecoin

Revolut began the phased rollout of EURR, a euro-backed stablecoin. In the first phase, the asset became available to select customers in 3 European Economic Area countries.
FinTech company Revolut, which serves more than 80 million retail customers and over 16 million users of its crypto services, announced the launch of EURR, a euro-backed stablecoin integrated directly into the company’s retail app. The token is issued by Bridge Building S.A.
The phased rollout of EURR began on August 26 for select Revolut customers in Denmark, Poland, and Portugal. The company plans to expand the token’s availability to other EEA markets by the end of 2026, subject to operational, product, and regulatory readiness.
EURR is an electronic money token (EMT) designed to maintain a value of €1. The reserves backing the asset are managed by the issuer in accordance with the requirements of the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA).
The stablecoin is fully integrated into Revolut’s infrastructure and is intended to give customers a direct way to move between euros and digital assets through on-chain transactions. During the initial rollout, EURR is available on the Ethereum blockchain. Revolut plans to add support for other blockchain networks and expand options for transferring the token to external wallets.
EURR isn’t a bank deposit and isn’t covered by a deposit guarantee scheme. Holders can redeem the token at par with the issuer after successfully completing its onboarding process.
The EURR launch marked the first stage of Revolut’s broader stablecoin strategy. The company is developing tokens denominated in other currencies, which will be subject to separate regulatory procedures. Revolut sees these assets as infrastructure for connecting its fiat currency exchange and crypto-asset services, with plans to eventually use them for cross-border transfers, payments, and business transactions.
As a reminder, the market capitalization of MiCA-compliant euro stablecoins rose 128% over the past year to $673.9 million. Revolut also recently introduced its first physical crypto card for users in the EEA and the U.K.
