Real Level of Decentralization of Cryptocurrencies and Virtual Assets in Movies

Should we focus solely on the serious part of the cryptocurrency market? After all, cryptocurrencies are also a cultural phenomenon and part of the ideology of cypherpunks. That’s why they’re prominently shown in movies, TV series, and cartoons. Moreover, screenwriters and filmmakers often invent virtual assets, using them for various purposes.

Last week, the CP Media team paid special attention to cryptocurrencies and fictional digital assets in movies, but we didn’t forget about relevant news about the blockchain industry. Besides, we decided to find out if cryptocurrencies are fully decentralized. An interesting study came out of this, which is available for everyone to read.

  1. Decentralization of Blockchain Networks: Myth or Reality?

Decentralization is one of the key features of blockchain networks, but how decentralized are the largest of them in practice? CP Media explored the issue. It’s hard to draw definite conclusions. But, for example, almost 40% of all nodes of the Ethereum network are hosted on Amazon cloud servers. Let’s admit it, it doesn’t seem very decentralized.

  1. Bitcoin and Other Cryptocurrencies in Movies: How Do Film Studios Follow the Trend?

Nataly Antonenko, CP Media’s News Editor, spent the last few weeks taking a detailed look at the presence of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in movies. The result is a thorough piece that’s definitely interesting in the context of the perception of cryptocurrencies in popular culture.

  1. How Are Fictional Virtual Assets Used in Movies and TV Series?

Not satisfied with analyzing only real cryptocurrencies, Nataly explored different forms of fictional digital assets found in movies, TV shows, and anime. It was supposed to give some idea of the possible variants of virtual currencies, but it turned out to be a study of digital money in the context of creating artistic images and spaces.
