Securitize Launches Trading of Tokenized U.S. Stocks

Securitize introduced a platform for trading tokenized shares of U.S. companies while preserving shareholder rights, including dividend payments and voting rights.

Securitize, a real-world asset (RWA) tokenization infrastructure provider with about $5 billion in assets under management, announced the launch of Securitize Stocks. The platform gives eligible investors in the U.S., the European Union, and other permitted jurisdictions access to tokenized U.S. stocks backed 1:1 by underlying securities.

The initial offering covers 12 publicly traded companies listed on U.S. stock exchanges:

  • Apple (AAPL);

  • Microsoft (MSFT);

  • Nvidia (NVDA);

  • Alphabet (GOOG);

  • Meta (META);

  • Amazon (AMZN);

  • Palantir (PLTR);

  • Tesla (TSLA);

  • Netflix (NFLX);

  • Circle (CRCL);

  • Strategy (MSTR);

  • SpaceX (SPCX).

Each Securitize Stocks token is backed by 1 share of the corresponding issuer and represents a security entitlement under Article 8 of the U.S. Uniform Commercial Code (UCC). This structure preserves economic benefits and applicable shareholder rights, including dividend payments and voting rights, where the relevant share class provides them.

Unlike synthetic instruments that merely track stock prices, Securitize Stocks uses the Convertible Entitlement Token (CET) model. It allows tokens to be converted into actual shares, with ownership registered directly in the investor’s name. This conversion will become available if the issuing company implements its own stock tokenization system. The process will be handled through transfer agents working with Securitize.

Trading Infrastructure and Plans for 24/7 Trading

Transactions involving Securitize Stocks are settled in USDC stablecoins on the Solana blockchain. Jump Trading provides initial liquidity, acting as a market maker through Securitize’s existing Solana PropAMM infrastructure.

Tokenized stock trading is available during extended trading hours, with the company planning to introduce 24/7 trading in the future.

Securitize also plans to expand tokenized stock trading capabilities through integrations with other trading platforms, including:

  • NYSE’s digital platform for trading tokenized securities. Integration will depend on the platform’s launch and compliance with regulatory and operational requirements;

  • OKXICE TSV, a tokenized securities trading venue being developed by OKX and Intercontinental Exchange (ICE). The platform is designed for regulated trading of tokenized U.S. stocks, with the potential for instant settlement and investor self-custody.

Securitize emphasized that secondary trading is conducted through a regulated broker-dealer without requiring special regulatory exemptions. Access to these instruments is subject to KYC/AML procedures and applicable jurisdictional restrictions.

Integration With Traditional Finance and Decentralized Finance (DeFi)

Several companies from the traditional financial and cryptocurrency sectors are involved in developing the Securitize Stocks infrastructure, including:

  • RQD provides infrastructure support for clearing, custody, and settlement of tokenized securities transactions;

  • Ripple Prime plans to support the launch of Securitize Stocks and explore opportunities to integrate tokenized equities into its institutional trading ecosystem;

  • Aave is being considered as a potential platform for integrating Securitize Stocks into DeFi, including the use of tokenized equities as collateral and in lending transactions.

Carlos Domingo, CEO of Securitize, said the company’s goal was to tokenize shares of publicly traded U.S. companies while preserving investor rights and existing protections.

Recently, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) also authorized on-chain trading of tokenized U.S. stocks, temporarily exempting providers of such solutions from additional requirements.
