Sony Electronics started accepting crypto payments via the Crypto.com Pay platform, allowing users of its online store in Singapore to pay for goods using the USDC stablecoin.

Sony Electronics, in collaboration with Crypto.com, launched cryptocurrency payment support on the Sony Store Online Singapore platform. Customers can now make purchases directly from their crypto wallets using Crypto.com Pay. Only the USDC stablecoin is available as a payment method, but the company plans to expand the list of supported digital assets in the future.
Chin Tah Ang, General Manager for Singapore at Crypto.com, noted that the partnership with Sony helps promote crypto payments in everyday life. In his view, integrating digital assets not only enhances user experience but also expands Sony Electronics Singapore’s customer base by attracting tech-savvy consumers.
The press release highlights that crypto adoption is part of Sony Electronics Singapore’s long-term strategy to digitalize processes, diversify payment options, and adapt to evolving market demands.
In April 2024, it was revealed that Sony Bank began experimenting with issuing its own stablecoin, pegged to the Japanese yen, for use in payments related to Sony Group products and services.
