Italian customers of UniCredit will now be able to make international money transfers in foreign currencies within seconds directly from the bank’s mobile app.

UniCredit became the first bank in Italy to offer retail customers international transfers with the same speed, transparency, and cost as domestic payments. The new service, developed in partnership with Wise Platform, allows users to send money in foreign currencies directly via the UniCredit mobile app.
The service will be available to UniCredit’s retail customers in Italy starting July 21, 2025, with plans to expand to other countries in the future.
The new UniCredit service supports transfers from euros into various foreign currencies, including:
- British Pound (GBP);
- Swiss Franc (CHF);
- Hong Kong Dollar (HKD);
- Singapore Dollar (SGD);
- Indian Rupee (INR), and others.
The list of supported currencies will continue to grow. In most cases, funds are received within seconds, and customers are provided with transparent information about fees and the status of each transaction.
The integration is built on Wise’s infrastructure, which connects directly to local payment networks. This eliminates delays and hidden fees typically associated with traditional bank transfers through correspondent networks.
This new functionality complements the bank’s existing solutions such as UC PayFX, which supports over 120 currencies, and UC PayFX Webservice, which offers tools for managing currency risks and tracking transactions.
Steve Naudé, Global Managing Director at Wise Platform, emphasized that this partnership marks a significant milestone for millions of UniCredit customers who will now benefit from a new level of efficiency in international payments.
In May 2025, Wise entered a similar agreement with Raiffeisen Bank International, enabling private and corporate clients across eleven Central and Eastern European countries to make fast and secure international transfers.
