The Unity asset store added a new “Decentralization” category, with 13 developer products from proven crypto platforms already available.
Video game developer platform Unity added 13 software development kits (SDK) from major cryptocurrency platforms to its asset store. The initiative aims to “support developers interested in technology that enables decentralization in gaming,” Unity said in a statement.
Specifically, developers now have access to SDKs from projects such as:
- MetaMask;
- ImmutableX;
- Algorand;
- Solana;
- Tezos;
- Flow, etc.
The integration of new tools will enable developers to implement innovative “models of ownership” in games, and players will be able to create, earn, or acquire in-game assets that can later be sold or exchanged in accordance with Unity rules.
In March 2022, DappRadar analysts noted significant growth in blockchain game users, and 52% of all blockchain activity in Q1 2022 was in the gaming segment. In January 2023, that figure dropped slightly to 48%. Experts believe improved gameplay will be the key driver for blockchain gaming this year.
