Visa Launches Cross-Border Transfers Using USDC Stablecoin

Visa is moving from testing to commercial use of stablecoins to fund international payments. The new technology allows companies to fund cross-border payouts through Visa Direct using USDC in near real time, regardless of traditional banking settlement windows.

Visa announced the commercial launch of a solution that enables companies to pre-fund international transfers through Visa Direct using the USDC stablecoin. Inyo Global, a payment infrastructure provider serving banks, fintech companies, and money transfer operators, became the first partner to implement the solution. The company integrated the new feature into its platform, which supports payments in more than 180 countries through Visa Direct.

The solution gives Inyo Global’s clients the following capabilities:

  • Pre-fund international payouts using USDC 24/7;

  • Add funds in near real time;

  • Process transactions through existing APIs without requiring a separate technical integration.

The stablecoin is used to fund transfers, but not necessarily to make direct payments to end recipients.

According to Vera Platonova, Global Head of Visa Direct, the move toward practical stablecoin adoption will allow companies to manage liquidity more efficiently and fund international payments faster.

Visa began testing stablecoins within Visa Direct in September 2025. At the time, the company launched pilot programs for pre-funding and international payouts using digital assets. BVNK later joined the testing as a stablecoin payment infrastructure provider, while zerohash provided the technical and regulatory infrastructure for stablecoin integration. The partnership with Inyo Global marked the first commercial deployment of the stablecoin funding solution.
