ETHGlobal Cannes is set to become one of the most prominent hackathons in the Ethereum ecosystem, hosted by ETHGlobal. Distinguished by its format and scale, the event will gather top-tier developers from around the world to build cutting-edge Web3 solutions. With a total prize pool of $275,000, the competition promises to be both intense and inspiring.
Over the span of three days, participants will build their projects entirely from scratch, using only publicly available tools and resources. Early development is strictly prohibited — coding begins only once the hackathon officially kicks off. All submissions must be hosted on GitHub, and development transparency is a core requirement: only public commits are allowed, and contributors must use version control and open-source libraries.
The hackathon culminates on Sunday, July 6, when teams will present their projects before a panel of judges. Each team will have 7 minutes: 4 minutes for a live demo and 3 minutes for Q&A. Submissions will be evaluated across five key criteria:
- Technical complexity
- Originality
- Real-world utility
- User interface quality
- Overall impression
Finalists will not only be judged by industry experts but will also gain exposure to leading figures across the blockchain space. The event is backed by a roster of premier blockchain projects, with over 28 individual sponsor prizes recognizing outstanding achievements in specific domains. Participating partners include LayerZero, 1inch, World, Oasis Protocol, Zircuit, Chainlink, Flare, Hedera, Ledger, Polygon, Flow, Circle, ENS, The Graph, Mantle, and others.
ETHGlobal Cannes also offers a robust library of educational materials to help teams prepare — including how-to guides, video tutorials, learning platform links, Ethereum documentation, and Figma templates.
Participation is entirely free, including meals during the event. However, a small deposit in cryptocurrency is required to confirm attendance. This deposit is fully refundable upon project submission at the end of the hackathon.
