The value of mergers and acquisitions in the crypto market jumped almost 5.000% over the past year.

Average Deal Size in Crypto Market Grew by $127 Million in 2021

In 2021, the average deal size involving cryptocurrency companies was $179.7 million — an increase of 4.846% from a year earlier. The data was provided by Bloomberg, citing a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers analysts. The significant growth was caused by a large number of deals with SPACs — special-purpose acquisition companies.

AU21, Genesis Block Ventures, Genblock Capital, Coinbase Ventures and Moonwhale had the largest number of mergers and acquisitions with crypto-related companies. Investors were most interested in cryptocurrency wallets.

According to The Block Research, a total of about 200 mergers and acquisitions took place in 2021. A year earlier, there were 85 such deals — a growth rate of about 130% in this context. Last year, the largest acquisition was Galaxy Digital’s $1.2 billion purchase of BitGo, a crypto depository.

The volume of investments in cryptocurrency startups in 2021 also increased significantly compared to the previous year. Total capital inflow in this sphere rose by 645%; AU21, Genesis Block Ventures, Genblock Capital and Coinbase Venture are the main investors.
