Google officially allowed developers of blockchain games with non-fungible tokens (NFT) to list them on the Play Store.

Blockchain Games Available on Google Play

The latest update to Google Play policy allowed blockchain game developers to list their mobile apps on the official Play Store. They can offer NFT games to Android device owners, but they must comply with some of Google’s rules regarding user security.

Thus, the games’ description must state that they allow users to earn or buy NFTs and other tokens. However, developers should never promote the potential earnings from gaming or trading operations but instead warn about the risks.

Google Play policy also prohibits gambling using NFTs and similar mechanisms. Developers are strictly prohibited from offering random in-game items in the form of NFTs, such as through loot boxes.

According to Joseph Mills, Group Product Manager for Google Play, these restrictions were formulated based on feedback from blockchain developers. The company also plans to continue working on support for Web3 applications.

Last year, Google explored the possibility of integrating blockchain into YouTube and Google Maps.
