Cardano’s Vasil hard fork has been implemented, and the mainnet is running smoothly.
On Thursday, September 22, at 21:44 UTC, the Vasil update was implemented in Cardano as a result of the hard fork. As reported by Input Output Hong Kong (IOHK), the project’s main developer, the upgrade process was successful.
The major innovations were a new blockchain generation algorithm and a Plutus update for smart contracts. These improvements will speed up the addition of blocks to the main network, expand the capabilities of smart contracts, and increase the efficiency of creating and maintaining decentralized apps.
Network participants report that they have already experienced significant performance improvements in Cardano. Developers will be able to fully appreciate the innovations on September 27, after an epoch that currently lasts about five days.
The Vasil update is the most important innovation of the Cardano project since support for smart contracts was added to the blockchain network’s functionality in September 2021. The upgrade has been postponed and rescheduled several times, but eventually, September 22 was chosen as the final date. Moreover, analysts found that Cardano’s brand evokes the highest emotional response from users among other crypto brands.
