On January 11, spot Bitcoin ETFs from 11 investment companies, previously approved by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), began trading on the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), and The Nasdaq Stock Market LLC (Nasdaq). Trading volume exceeded $4.5 billion for the first time in 24 hours.

Daily Trading Volume of Spot Bitcoin ETFs Totaled $4.5B

Spot Bitcoin ETFs conquered Wall Street, showing trading volume on the first day after the launch at a level above $4.5 billion, Bloomberg reports.

On January 11, the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE) traded such Bitcoin ETFs:

  • ARKB. ARK 21Shares, the trading volume for the day exceeded $5.9 million, the price at the end of trading amounted to $46.85, rising to $50.18.
  • FBTC. Fidelity asset, the trading volume exceeded $16.8 million, the price rose to $44.40 and was fixed at $41.07.
  • GBTC. The Grayscale asset was worth $40.96 at the end of trading, and the trading volume for the day reached $3.5 million.
  • EZBC. The asset of Franklin Templeton was trading at $28.48, but at the end of trading it was fixed at $27.29. The volume of trades amounted to almost $2.4 million.
  • BTCO. The Invesco Galaxy asset price held at $49 during the trading session, but fell to $47.50 by the end of the day. Daily trading volume amounted to a little more than $965,000.
  • HODL. Trades in the asset from VanEck started a little later, so the trading volume amounted to only about $482,000. The price at the end of the trading session was fixed at $52.92, rising to $54.92 at the moment.
  • BTCW. The price of the WisdomTree asset was $49.75 at the end of trading, reaching $52.13. The daily trading volume amounted to just over $131,000.

On the Nasdaq exchange:

  • IBIT from BlackRock. Daily trading volume amounted to $37.6 million, the closing price was $26.63.
  • BRRR from Valkyrie. The trading volume for the day exceeded $676,000. The price of the asset at the moment of trades closing amounted to $13.29.

The following Bitcoin ETFs were traded on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on January 11:

  • GBTC from Grayscale Investments. The price rose to $42.97, but at the end of trading amounted to $40.50. The trading volume for the day amounted to more than $56 million.
  • BITB from Bitwise. The trade started at $26.80 and ended at $25.54. The trading volume for the day amounted to $4.7 million.
  • DEFI from Hashdex. Trading opened at $60, at the time of closing the price of the asset amounted to $56.04. The trading volume amounted to $78,800 for the day.

The hype around investment products was also reflected in Bitcoin quotations. The price of BTC rose to $48,800 at some point, according to CoinGecko data. As of 12:00 (GMT+2), January 12, the value of the first cryptocurrency is $45,873. Ethereum reached the highest values for the last year. The price of ETH was rising to $2,677. At the time of writing, the price of the asset is $2,616. The total capitalization of the crypto market reached $1.85 trillion, falling to $1.76 trillion in the last few hours.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approved 11 applications to issue exchange-traded funds (ETF) based on spot quotes of BTC, which pushed the price of the cryptocurrency and all indicators of the crypto market up.
