The emirate of Dubai has initiated the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, which plans to create over 40,000 virtual jobs by 2030.

Dubai Metaverse to Create 40,000 Jobs

The authorities of Dubai aim to turn the emirate into one of the world’s top 10 economic centers in the metaverse sector. To this end, the ambitious Dubai Metaverse Strategy plan has been launched, as reported by Emirates. The plan is set to run until 2030 and involves more than 1,000 blockchain companies working on metaverse projects. According to the project authors, this will allow supporting over 40,000 virtual jobs.

The program was initiated personally by the Ruler of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The emirate’s capital is planned to be turned into a global technological hub. Special attention will be paid not only to metaverses, but also to the development of artificial intelligence (AI) and Web 3.0 projects. To create the necessary infrastructure, 5G networks will be widely implemented.

The Dubai Metaverse Strategy is part of the UAE government’s strategy to transform the country into the world’s leading center in futuristic sectors. According to a press release, VR and AR projects have already created 6,700 jobs and attracted more than $0.5 billion to the country’s economy. The authorities intend to turn Dubai into one of the largest global centers of the cryptocurrency industry.

The new strategy involves intensifying research and development in the field of blockchain projects and launching accelerators and incubators to attract companies and projects from abroad. A large-scale launch of educational programs for developers, content creators, and users is also planned to form the metaverse community.

There are also prospects to develop augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) technologies. These technologies are to be used in different economic sectors and public services. The virtual hospital project scheduled to be launched in October is an example.
