MoneyGram Launches Stablecoin-Backed Payment Card in Colombia

MoneyGram launched a Visa payment card that allows users to hold funds in U.S. dollar-denominated stablecoins and use them to pay for goods and services. The product is initially available only to users in Colombia.
Global payments company MoneyGram introduced the MoneyGram Card, a digital payment card integrated directly into the company’s mobile app. The card is powered by Rain’s stablecoin payment infrastructure, Crossmint’s crypto wallet, and the Stellar blockchain network.
The MoneyGram Card is initially available only to users in Colombia, with the company planning to expand the service to other markets. Users can apply for the card in the MoneyGram app, manage their balance and spending, and add it to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet for contactless payments and online purchases. The card allows users to hold funds in U.S. dollar-denominated stablecoins and spend them through the Visa payment network.
In addition to card payments, MoneyGram allows users to convert their digital balance into cash. Customers can send funds to themselves from their MoneyGram balance and collect the money in local currency at one of the company’s retail locations. MoneyGram also plans to launch a physical version of the card in late 2026, allowing users to withdraw cash from ATMs.
MoneyGram has been actively integrating digital products into its existing global payments infrastructure. The company previously partnered with Kraken to launch a crypto-to-cash service in Ukraine. It also integrated the Ramps service into the Solana ecosystem, allowing crypto app developers to build fiat payment gateways through a single API.
