TON Application Chain and Polygon Labs announced their collaboration to launch an EVM-compatible Layer 2 protocol in The Open Network (TON) ecosystem. The new network will allow TON users to access various decentralized applications (dApps) in the Ethereum ecosystem.

EVM-Compatible L2 Protocol for TON Launched

TON Application Chain (TAC) developers are working on a ZKP-based L2 protocol in collaboration with Polygon Labs. By integrating Polygon CDK and the Agglayer interoperability protocol, developers can create decentralized apps based on the TON blockchain compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).

The integration of TON with EVM will open up a wide range of opportunities for Ethereum devs to create various dApps for the Telegram audience. According to Messari’s latest report, in June, the number of active addresses in the TON network reached 500,000, exceeding Ethereum’s figures.

Pavel Altukhov, CEO of TAC, said the network’s compatibility with EVM will remove barriers to the use of TON and attract significant interest in DeFi and GameFi applications.

The TON blockchain is actively developing. Earlier, the USDT stablecoin was integrated into the network, with the citizens of the Philippines being able to make social contributions.
