Attackers managed to hack into Discord servers of Bored Ape Yacht Club and OtherSide NFT projects. Assets worth about $260,000 were stolen due to a phishing attack.

Hackers Attacked Discord Servers of Bored Ape Yacht Club and OtherSide Again

Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) and OtherSide, two most popular NFT projects by Yuga Labs, became the victims of the phishing attack. This was reported on Twitter by blockchain analyst OKHotshot.

On-chain analyst OKHotshot warned crypto investors that hackers managed to break into the Discord account of Yuga Labs community and social media manager Boris Vagner, which gave the attackers access to two official Discord groups.

During the investigation, OKHotshot reported that after gaining unrestricted access to the employee’s account, fraudsters posted several phishing links on his behalf in the official Discord groups of BAYC and OtherSide NFT. Unsuspecting users hurried to take part in an “exclusive giveaway” for NFT holders and followed the phishing links.

Hackers stole assets worth over 145 ETH, which is about $260,000, according to the current exchange rate.

Recall that this is not the first time scammers have attacked NFT monkey holders. At the beginning of April, the official Discord of BAYC & MAYC by Yuga Labs was compromised, the amount of damage was estimated at $500,000. And at the end of April, the official Instagram account of BAYC was hacked, so the hacker managed to steal from users about 765.3 ETH and 91 NFTs.

Another Twitter scam victim was the owner of a popular NFT Moonbird, who had 29 tokens stolen worth $1.5 million. And recent studies show that about half of the scammers who managed to steal digital assets were using social networks.
