The International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) will use Metaverse technology to optimize communication between different departments.
Interpol launches the first global police Metaverse. The organization’s official website reports this.
The Metaverse, which was specifically developed for law enforcement agencies, will allow police officers from different regions of the world to interact in a virtual space. The initiative’s main purpose is to share experience.
Within the project, plans to combat cybercrime, the level of which is actively growing, will be worked out. Jürgen Stock, Interpol Secretary General, stressed that law enforcement agencies are currently unable to track and respond quickly to crimes in the Metaverse sector.
Praveen Sinha, Special Director of India’s Central Bureau of Investigations, also emphasized the need to coordinate efforts to combat cybercrime. He argued that real-time information sharing would strengthen international cooperation in the fight against crimes in the virtual environment.
Law enforcement officials will be able to take immersive training courses in the virtual space, particularly in forensic science. Special attention will be paid to the education of students and recruits.
By the way, officials of the police agency of Ajman in the UAE recently reported that law enforcement employees intend to provide services to the public through the Metaverse. Governments of various countries are actively testing Metaverse technologies in various spheres. For instance, the virtual world is used to train specialists in Japan, and the UAE uses the Metaverse to develop the tourism industry.
