Podcasters got a new tool to promote their content, while their listeners can support their favorite podcasts and earn money just by listening to them.
Podcast aggregator Fountain and FinTech company ZEBEDEE announced their partnership. They offered two new mechanics: Listen-to-Earn and Pay-per-Minute. They both have something in common. Namely, they allow users to earn BTC for listening to podcasts.
Users can listen not only to the podcasts they’re interested in but also to ads. Funds are credited on a per-minute basis, and the rate changes daily. Using BTC allows payments to be split down to a hundredth of a cent, and the Lightning Network enables funds to be transferred directly to a bank card with minimal fees.
Oscar Merry, Founder and CEO of Fountain, emphasized that every minute spent watching ads, consuming or creating content adds value to the platform. Meanwhile, the Listen-to-Earn concept rewards users for directly contributing to a project’s financial value.
Furthermore, according to the entrepreneur, the new concept will unify a “fragmented podcasting industry,” which today is represented by numerous unsynchronized apps and hosting providers.
