Among enthusiasts willing to start work in the Web 3.0 sector, Marketing and Management were the most popular fields.
Crypto exchange KuCoin presented the Journey Into Web3 report containing the results of the Web 3.0 sector labor market analysis. The study surveyed 3,608 internet users aware of the Web 3.0 sphere across Twitter and LinkedIn. 16% of them already consider themselves professionals. Their areas of expertise are cryptocurrencies, metaverse, NFT, DAO, DeFi, and DApp development.
Only 24% of the professionals have worked on projects full-time, while the majority have been limited to part-time work or participated in projects as freelancers or entrepreneurs. Of those, over half were satisfied with their careers. Among professionals, 59% are under the age of 30.
64% of non-professionals are interested in career opportunities in Web 3.0. More than 50% are interested in pursuing careers in Marketing and Management: Research & Strategy, Data Analysis, Product Management & Operations. The most popular work area is the metaverse-related sector, which implies the greatest growth potential.
The popularity of the metaverse among enthusiasts reflects the real demand for the sector. For example, Japan has already launched a program to train blockchain specialists in the metaverse space. The authorities of Dubai have launched the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, which plans to create more than 40,000 virtual jobs by 2030. This initiative also assumes a large-scale launch of educational programs. Analysts say total revenue from metaverse projects could reach $5 trillion over the next eight years, while the number of cryptocurrency users will grow to one billion.
