Visa Launches Anchor Validator Node on Tempo Blockchain

Visa officially joined the Tempo blockchain as an anchor validator. Tempo is designed for real-time payment processing, native stablecoin support, and the development of agentic commerce.
Global payments system Visa announced the launch of its own validator node on the Tempo blockchain, becoming one of the network’s key validators. This move strengthens Visa’s involvement in advancing blockchain payment infrastructure and stablecoin solutions.
At the initial stage, Visa is acting as an anchor validator, a role that comes with increased responsibility for maintaining network stability and validating transactions. The company’s participation is expected to deliver the performance and resilience required for emerging use cases, including stablecoin settlements.
The validator node launch follows approximately six months of collaboration between Visa engineers and the Tempo team. The validator infrastructure is fully deployed and operated in-house, allowing Visa to directly participate in transaction verification and ensure network reliability.
Tempo is positioned as a next-generation blockchain for enterprise payments. Alongside Visa, early external validators include payments platform Stripe and custodial provider Zodia Custody, supported by Standard Chartered. The network is expected to expand its list of participants over time. Tempo’s testnet launched in December 2025, with the mainnet going live on March 18, 2026.
Visa emphasized that launching its own validator is a natural extension of its long-term work with blockchain technologies. According to Visa’s Head of Crypto, Cuy Sheffield, participating in network governance enables the company to bring its standards of reliability, security, and resilience, applied to processing billions of transactions worldwide, into the blockchain payments space.
The launch aligns with Visa’s broader strategy to develop blockchain-based payment solutions. The company plans to continue collaborating with partners to enhance interoperability, security, and resilience across the digital asset ecosystem.
In March 2026, Visa introduced a new product, Visa CLI, which allows AI agents to independently initiate and execute online payments. The company also announced support for a new standard for automated payments between AI agents, introduced by Tempo.
