Japan Fintech Week

Tokyo, Japan

The Financial Services Agency of Japan (FSA) is planning the first Japan Fintech Week as an initiative to promote Japanese financial technology on the global stage and create business opportunities to further develop the FinTech industry in Japan.

The FSA intends to partner with various FinTech event organizers to create a unified platform for entrepreneurs from Japan and other countries to meet. During Japan Fintech Week, different organizations will host side events in Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka locations. These will include symposiums, workshops, startup presentations, roundtables, networking, exhibitions, and other formats that will be held in English and Japanese.

Some of the major events included in Japan Fintech Week are:

  1. BGIN Block #10 Meeting, the ninth general membership meeting of the Blockchain Governance Initiative Network (BGIN), will be held from March 3–6. BGIN is a multi-stakeholder discussion body and a distributed think tank for the global blockchain ecosystem. Its aim is to develop the ecosystem through inclusive collaboration.
  2. Finance x Startup EXPO 2024 is a speaker series organized by FITA, a financial association, and FinGATE, one of Japan’s largest financial innovation centers. Experts from the finance and technology industries, as well as students, investors, and startup representatives, are expected to discuss the accelerating digital transformation of the financial industry and the revitalization of the Japanese economy and present innovative financial developments.
  3. Japan FinTech Festival is a financial technology festival organized by Elevandi. It’s a global inclusive platform for networking that includes a series of side events: summits, expert sessions, meetings, presentations, roundtables, and others. The festival will be held from March 4–8.
  4. 4F, or Future Frontier Fes by FINOLAB, is a set of events that will take place from March 4–8, organized by FINOLAB, a FinTech center in Tokyo. FINOPITCH, a global pitch competition for Japanese and international FinTech startups, will take center stage with other events, including the Japan Financial Innovation Awards (JFIA). There’ll also be a variety of networking events.
  5. FIN/SUM, or FinTech Summit 2024, is the main event of Japan Fintech Week, an international financial technology symposium to be held from March 5–8. Organized by the FSA and Nikkei Inc., the event will feature discussions on financial and accounting services, insurance, artificial intelligence, and Web3 technologies to “build a bright future.” Guests and speakers include experts from academia and the technology community, as well as representatives from big business, government agencies, central banks, and financial organizations.
  6. DeFi Retreat APAC is an international conference dedicated to decentralized finance (DeFi). It’ll take place from March 7–8. It assumes an exclusive experience of communication with a narrow circle of professionals — at most 150 participants, including representatives of government regulators and major investment funds, as well as founders and heads of international financial structures.
  7. Hokkenmirai 2024 is a roundtable organized by the GuardTech research community. The event will be held on March 8 and focus on insurance and InsurTech.
  8. FinTech Future 2024 is a networking event organized by the British Embassy. It’ll run on March 8. The purpose is to discuss the future of the FinTech industry and the development of cooperation in this area between companies from the U.K. and Japan.

These are not all the events, but only the most interesting ones, in the opinion of CP Media. The organizers of Japan Fintech Week draw the attention of all interested parties to the fact that there are no single tickets for all events of the week. For detailed information on how to participate in the mentioned events, please refer to the websites of each event.
