Approximately nine out of ten consumers express interest in using Metaverse technologies to interact with various brands and for personal relationships.

Consumers Express High Interest in Metaverse

Analysts at Capgemini, a management and information technology consulting company, found high consumer interest in Metaverse technologies. Besides, business representatives express significant interest in using the Metaverse as a tool of interaction with consumers.

The report by Capgemini surveyed 8,000 consumers and 1,000 representatives of various organizations from 12 countries. Only 4% of respondents are experienced users of virtual reality. However, 93% expressed a willingness to use immersive experiences to interact with brands, as well as for personal purposes. 

Consumers expect Metaverse technologies to be introduced in the following areas:

  • retail shopping (78%);
  • cars, household electronics, and furniture (77%);
  • banking and insurance (56%);
  • healthcare (55%);
  • education (51%);
  • consumer products (50%);
  • telecommunication services (44%).

Metaverse technologies are actively expanding, influencing various spheres of human activity.

As for organizations, around 70% of different brands said that they consider the Metaverse a “market differentiator” in terms of customer experience.

Capgemini analysts identified two main factors hindering the mass adoption and adoption of Metaverse technologies: the availability of VR devices and online privacy. So, despite consumers’ high interest in virtual space, many are concerned about security in the Metaverse. 

The study also found that the adoption of Metaverse technologies varies greatly from region to region. In some countries, Metaverses are more popular. For example, residents of Canada (6.9% of the population), South Korea (5.4%), and Japan (5.4%) are interested in using the Metaverse. At the same time, consumers from Spain (2.3%), the U.K. (2.3%), and the Netherlands (2.7%) show lower interest in the technology.

Recall that analysts forecast the growth of the Metaverse sector, the volume of which could exceed $50 billion by 2026.
